'Demimonde' is selected by Jackie Wullschlager as one the FT Critic's Picks for the weekend of 17/18th January, alongside the Royal Academy's 'Giovanni Battista Moroni' exhibition and Courtauld Gallery's 'Unseen'. Behind the FT's paywall, the text reads as follows:
"Situated opposite the V&A, Amberwood House, built in the 1920s, is the former home of Margot Fonteyn. It was sold last year and before the developers move in, a pop-up show of 31 young artists — including Tom Farthing’s seductive figurative paintings, Daniel Gordon’s erotic photographs of collaged newspaper sculptures and Egle Jauncems’ cut-fabric reimaginings of 18th-century portraits — affords a double chance both to view the interiors in their current transitional state, and to see work in many media that turns on collisions of a “half-world”: between irony and sincerity, digital and analogue, pop and highbrow. Final weekend."
Time Out also included 'Demimonde' in 'This week's best new art' selection, alongside the Fine Art Society, Marian Goodman Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery and Courtauld Gallery.
